Hospitality at the Workington game will be a little bit special as we welcome back former coach Paul Daley and his family to celebrate his three spells with the Club. We can also announce that the hospitality is also sold out, with over 90 people attending.
Paul’s coaching style is the stuff of legend and not without success. He had three spells at the Club 1973-78, 1981-85 and 1990-93 securing 2 promotions as well as being at the helm for our epic victory over the Hull KR in 1983.
Supporters still recall his exchange with the great Alex Murphy at Hilton Park in 1985, coming back from a 23-4 deficit to win 28-27. At half-time Murphy had patted Paul on the cheek with a condescending “Hard lines son” quip. Daley, never a respecter of reputations, returned the compliment at full time with a “Hard lines Dad”.
Many former players are at the event courtesy of a generous donation from the Rock-Oilfield Group, an American based company owned by Paul’s nephew Andy Garnett. Thanks for your support Andy.
Know them all, even Jack Prince!
