Head Coach Dean Muir has prepared his team for another big weekend in League One.
The visit of Workington Town is just one of a few tasty clashes this weekend as the top 6 teams meet each other in what should be a classic weekend of matches.
The Club also prepares to celebrate former Coach Paul Daley, whilst guests from Yorkshire County Cricket Club will be doing activities on the field from 1pm. With hospitality sold out it’s hoped a good crowd will attend to see Hunslet try gain revenge for an early season 18-30 defeat to the Cumbrians.
“We lost the game at home to Workington, which could cost us, but here’s a chance to redeem ourselves” said Muir “They have two of the best middles in the League in Jordan Thomson and Stevie Scholey who bullied us a bit, even in the game we won up at Workington. It’s a big task for our pack this time to prove we can handle this test. They also have Jordan Burns, who is currently playing at half-back and is a real running threat.”
Hunslet should be confident though coming off the back of a good win at North Wales Crusaders. “We played some good stuff, but we must back up that result. We must make sure we have that willingness to win.” said Muir “I feel we can still step up a few gears, which is scary. We used the ball well and our attacking structure was good, but I was especially happy we ran the shape well. Our attitude and shape application really came off.”
Hunslet take Joe Law on Dual Registration from Wakefield Trinity again, but unfortunately not Noah Booth which gives somebody else a chance to shine. George Flanagan (Hamstring) and Matty Fletcher (Ban) also are in contention.
Law has really been impressing Hunslet fans lately and his Coach backed that up “Joe’s played eight games for us now and has been really good. He is a great bloke who works hard and wants to learn, we have a good working relationship with Wakefield and having Joe for the season has been brilliant for us, it’s a shame we can’t have Noah this week as again he impressed at North Wales.”
If the backs score the glossy tries it’s the forwards that build the platform and two came in for praise this week “Jack Coventry played really well on Sunday. He’s worked on his fitness and strength and put in a good 50 minutes on Sunday which is a big ask, also Aaron Levy was really good. He is constantly solid, well balanced and looks after other individuals in the team.”
Hunslet will want to try a cement a play-off place with a victory on Sunday, but I’m sure fans will have an eye on the other results as we head into the final five league games of the season.
