Dean Muir has prepared his Hunslet team for the biggest week of the season, as they ready themselves for a trip to Rochdale Hornets in the Qualifying play-off.

The team will be joined by a good number of travelling supporters all given Block E in the stadium for the game.

“It’s a big week for the club, a great time to be here. I’ve been really impressed with the away support this season. We need our fans to back the boys, even when times are tough, and be noisy!” said Muir.

Rochdale Hornets climbed above Hunslet on the last day of the season with an impressive win over Keighley Cougars and are probably the form team in the competition. But Hunslet’s away record is superb this year with only two losses and a win earlier in the season at Rochdale.

“Rochdale are clearly the favourites.” said Muir “but we must concentrate on ourselves. It’s 80 minutes of play-off Rugby, we don’t want to be thinking about second chances or lifelines. We haven’t won a play-off game since 2017, it’s a good chance for us to put that right.”

“We’ve stepped up the training this week and are raring to go. There are opportunities for these players to show what they are made of. What happened in the regular season counts for nothing now. It’s play-off football and there’s no excuses and no hiding places.”

Hunslet will be without Wakefield Dual-reg man Ethan Wood, whilst Aaron Levy is still 50/50. Other than that Muir has a full squad to call on.
