Popular forward Matty Fletcher has committed himself to Hunslet for the 2025 Championship Season.

Coming in part way through the 2024 season Fletcher became an important member of the squad with his tackling and go-forward, but also his Rugby League nous, the highlight of which was the long ball that gave Jack Render a chance to wrap the match up in the Play-off Final at Keighley.

Dean Muir said “Matty was a late addition to the squad, and a vital part of why we were so successful. He is a natural Rugby player, he has the ability to play a number of positions and has Championship experience and brings a touch of class to what we are doing.”

Matty commented “I’m excited to confirm that I’ll be staying with Hunslet Rugby League for the 2025 season.

“After joining mid-last year following several positive conversations with Dean, our coach, it was his encouragement and belief in me that reignited my passion for the professional game.

“I had stepped away from the professional level and was happy playing amateur, but Dean’s persistence and desire to have me on the team really meant a lot.

“As a player, having a coaching staff who truly believes in you means more than anything—it drives you to become the best player you can be for the team.

“Reflecting on last year, it was an incredible season for us. Not only did we win promotion, but we also had the opportunity to beat my former club in the process.

“The playing group we have here is truly special to be around, and that sense of unity makes a huge difference.

“Stepping up to the Championship next year will mean playing at a higher standard every week, and I’m looking forward to the challenges and growth opportunities that come with it.

“With such a young and talented squad, there’s a lot to be optimistic about. We’ve worked hard to earn our place in the Championship, and we’re committed to making next season a success.

“It’s what the club, the board, and, most importantly, the fans deserve. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in 2025.

The 24 year old has experience at Oldham, North Wales and Swinton and has the ability to play big minutes and be effective either from minute one or off the bench.

Hunslet fans will be pleased one of last year’s most popular players is back on board for 2025.
