Today marked a watershed moment in 1888 when Hunslet played their last fixture on their original enclosure at Woodhouse Hill.

Bingley provided the opposition and Hunslet closed the old ground with a 2 goals to nil victory. Summerhill scored the first goal and Henderson the second. There was a late try near touch by Matt Carr but the goal kick failed.

On to new beginnings at Parkside……

In very much more recent times, today were the debuts last season of Jude Ferreira and Aaron Levy against Featherstone Rovers at home. Both were prominent as we swept to promotion, Jude played in the promotion / relegation game at Swinton.

In 1899, at Leeds Parish Church’s ground at Crown Point, Yorkshire were wrapping up the County Championship against Cumberland. Needing only a draw for the Championship, and with Albert Goldthorpe and Herb Robinson in the backs and James Ramage in the forwards, the White Rose did the necessary, winning 8-5.

Billy Eagers was in the Cumberland side, but was still with his original club of Millom.
