Great Britain’s 1954 tour moved on to Wagga Wagga today to play Riverina. Alf Burnell and Dickie Williams were at half-back and Geoff Gunney was in the second-row. Great Britain were 10-6 ahead at half-time but early in the second-half lost Drew Turnbull to injury, Geoff Gunney moving out of the pack to cover the wing position. Even so, the Lions built up a healthy 21-6 lead. However the Aussies hit back and went in front 26-21. Gunney showed his prowess as a winger by touching down near the posts for a converted try. Another converted try and a last minute touch down for Ginger Burnell saw GB home 36-26.
