The 1910 Tourists were in New Zealand today for a Tour Match with Rotorua. Winger Freddie Farrar returned to the side to make his fourth and last appearance of the tour in a 54-18 win in New Plymouth.

29th July….

Registering today in 1976 was half-back Stephen Kirk. His first team career spanned six seasons during which time he appeared 15 times scoring 4 tries

30th July….

2017 saw the start of the League 1 Shield competition for those teams missing out on the promotion Play-offs. Hunslet were at home to Coventry Bears and won easily 56-10 with Mufaro Mvududu scoring five tries.

More matches for our Lions today as their tours were winding down ready for their return home. 1910 in Auckland was that tour’s sole test match against New Zealand. The game saw Fred Smith score a try with Billy Batten and Bill Jukes also in the team which led 15-10 at half-time. GB showed their true form in the second half as brilliant exhibition of passing saw them run out 52-20 winners.

In 1914 Walter Guerin was in the pack for a match against Wanganui. He scored a try in one-sided match won 57-12.

31st July….

1954’s Tourist played their second Test against New Zealand in Greymouth today. Ginger Burnell and Dickie Williams were the half-backs. Great Britain had won the First test relatively easily 27-7 and were looking to wrap up the series. GB quickly built up a 7-0 lead which was pegged back to 12-8 by half time. In the second-half the tourists fell away to concede two tries and lose the game 20-14.

Bill Ramsey and Geoff Shelton were in the Snowy Mountains for match against Monaro at Cooma today. The visitors swept to an easy 33-12 victory.
