Hunslet Head Coach Dean Muir has prepared his troops for another big game this Sunday (June 29th) at home to London Broncos (3pm Kick-off).
After a very disappointing display against Barrow Raiders last time out, Hunslet need to find some home form.
“We’ve had a busy week in training.” said Muir “We’ve knuckled down and looked at what went wrong last week. It was a tough one to take. We have to be patient and learn from our mistakes. Be more consistent week in week out. We’ve not had our best 17 out this season and we’ve had to make use of the squad. The Championship is a tough division, and we are battered and bruised after Barrow. It’s a good group of players though, and it’s not through lack of effort, just poor decisions one on one”.
Missing the experience of Greg Eden and Kevin Larroyer last week didn’t help.
“It’s a young squad and the experience Greg and Kevin bring was missing, so poor decisions were made. But the team will learn. This week against London we have a chance. It’s an even game. We build in training, give a good account of ourselves and see where we are at. It’s an interesting week as the bottom teams all play each other. A couple of wins, and you could move up the table. But we focus on our performance and the rest will take care of itself.”
The treatment table has been busy after last week. Lee Gaskell and Lachy Hanneghan are being assessed, whilst Billy Jowitt is sore and Ethan O’Hanlon is recovering from a glute injury. These players may be fit, but Greg Eden (awaiting scan) and Kevin Larroyer are certain to miss out.
One experienced player with cause to celebrate is Liam Welham, who, if selected, will make his career 250th appearance this weekend.
“Liam’s done well for us this year, he brings an experienced head and hopefully can celebrate his 250th appearance with a win.” said Muir.
