Head coach Kyle Trout has demanded a reaction from his players as they head to Ebbsfleet to face a high-flying London Broncos side this weekend.

After a performance against Workington that fell well below the standards expected, Trout has challenged his squad to respond with actions rather than excuses.

“Sometimes words are not enough,” said Trout. “We can talk all week about putting things right, but nobody cares about what you say, they care about what you do.”

“The performance on Sunday wasn’t good enough. We didn’t show the fight, discipline or toughness that this club demands, and everyone inside that dressing room knows that.”

Standing in their way are a London Broncos side full of confidence and quality, but Trout insists his players cannot hide from the challenge.

“We know exactly what we’re up against. London are flying, they’re a top side and will punish you if you don’t turn up. But that’s exactly why we need to front up.”

“This game is about character. When things are tough, that’s when you find out what people are made of.”

“The supporters deserve better. They deserve a team that competes for every ball, fights for every yard and leaves everything out there. It is an absolute minimum if you want to wear the myrtle, white and flame shirt.”

Dan Abram and Cam Berry are doubtful but the Parksiders are bolstered by loanees Joe Butterfield (Leeds), Sam Grice (Castleford), Aidan Doolan (Casleford) and Jordan Baldwinson (Doncaster) as well as Josh Ratuvou who is on trial with the Parksiders.

Hunslet face the London Broncos knowing the task is huge, but Trout’s message is clear: effort, pride and attitude are the minimum requirements.
