Like everyone else I was disappointed our season came to an end with the play-off defeat at Doncaster last Sunday but I take heart in the run of results since Alan’s arrival.  I am as confident as ever that we have the right man to help take the Club forward in 2022.

It’s fair to say 2021 has been one of the most challenging in all my years in the game.  At the start of the year, it was touch and go as to whether the season would even commence let alone be completed.  I’d like to thank the players, coaching and support staff for their resilience and professionalism in adapting to the ever-changing protocols they have had to face.

Once again, our loyal band of supporters, members and sponsors have backed us to the hilt.  Our collective spirit, passion and commitment are a match for anyone in the game.  As a supporter owned club this level of commitment is essential to our survival and I thank each and every one of you for the part you have played.

I’d also like to thank my fellow Board members for their support and professionalism this year.  Not only have we had the pandemic to deal with but also the uncertainty around future league structures and central funding.  It is now known that our funding for next year will be cut by around 75%.  Tight financial controls and the backing of people with the Club at heart mean we are in a position to weather this storm but there are still many challenges ahead.  Together I know we will overcome these challenges.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to our kit man, the legend that is Trevor Brown.  “Brownie” has been part of the furniture for 18 years and the place will not be the same without him.  I’m pleased to report he will still be coming along to South Leeds Stadium to cheer on the boys and enjoy a Guinness or 2 in the Phoenix next season.  The Club will be doing something to acknowledge Trev’s loyalty at the end of season presentation, so please look out for details.

Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

And so we shall again

Kenny
