The latest issue of South of the River – the on-line monthly magazine devoted to Hunslet RLFC and to amateur Rugby League in south Leeds – is now available and is, as always, packed with compelling articles, plus evocative images by chief photographer Paul Johnson and others.

In the November issue Gary Thornton gives an insight to a Covid return to training and we take a look at Hunslet’s new playing strips for the 2021 campaign, and the biggest crowds to have watched the Parksiders in action are celebrated.

Homage is paid to Brian Shaw’s role in Great Britain’s World Cup triumph of 1960, while Finance Director Phil Hodgson charts his journey from ball boy to the boardroom.

Issue 28’s 37 pages include an interview with exciting 1970s winger Peter Muscroft, and columnists Pat Benatmane and Steve Boothroyd offer their unfailingly entertaining contributions. Steve Calline, meanwhile, adds a diverting historical perspective, and a look is taken at local amateur games played during October.

The November issue of South of the River costs just £3.00 (free to members and season ticket holders) and can be purchased by visiting
