Head Coach Dean Muir has prepared his squad ahead of their Betfred Challenge Cup Round 2 fixture away at Lock Lane ARLFC.
This is Hunslet’s first full contact hit-up of the season, although they have played behind closed-doors opposed sessions most recently against Rochdale Hornets.
“We are excited about going to Lock Lane.” said Muir “There is an incentive for both sides to win the game and host Huddersfield Giants in the next round.”
“We had a good session with Rochdale Hornets last week. We experimented, tried different positions and scenarios, and I was happy with how it turned out. I’d like to thank Gary Thornton and his team for playing us and wishing them all the best for the coming season.”
Of course, Hunslet would have liked to have played a Friendly, but the cold weather put paid to that.
“There are some issues with not playing full contact, but we cannot control the weather. I’m more than happy with the team in training. We have gone hard again this week, stepping up another level, before going into the detail of the game.”
Asked about Lock Lane, Muir was impressed with the set up “The Coaching staff went to see Lock Lane play Doncaster Toll Bar in the previous round, and we were very impressed.
I chatted to (Lock Lane Coach) Paul Couch, and it’s an excellent set up. We need to be on our ‘A’ game on Saturday. It’ll be a good test, they are no push over.”
Hunslet will be fielding a strong team, although some players will miss out having taken knocks in training.
With a lot of new faces on show it’s a chance for Hunslet fans to see the potential stars of 2025 as well as some of last year’s heroes.
Muir said “Our fans always travel in numbers and get behind us, so it should be a great occasion.”
The game kicks off at 2pm on Saturday, January 25th at the Oak Electrical Community Sports Complex. Prices at £10 Adults £5 Concessions. Cash only on the turnstile.
