Hunslet RLFC can today announce the signing of utility back Reece Dean on a 12-month contract.

Dean 21, came through the academy system with Super League side Hull FC, before leaving in order to seek regular action by signing a two-year deal for then current League One side Toronto Wolfpack.

After leaving Toronto in 2017 Reece had a loan spell at Sheffield Eagles before re-joining Doncaster where he had a previous spell with the Dons in 2016 as part of the dual-registration system with Super League side Hull FC.

After moving out of the semi-professional arena due to work commitments, Dean had a spell at amateur side Skirlaugh and represented Yorkshire in the NCL War of the Roses match where he received the Man of the Match award.

Thornton commented “Reece was on my target list to sign last season after he left Toronto, but he joined the prison service so was unable to commit to training and playing.

“His circumstances have now changed and he contacted me about joining us, and I am really looking forward to him coming in and showing the Hunslet fans what he can do.

“Reece came through the Hull FC academy where he was very highly rated, and spent time at Doncaster with me on dual registration, and his form that year earned him a contract at Toronto in their inaugural year.

“He can play both half back and full back, and will give us added options in those key pivotal positions.

“He takes the line on well, and is a very confident and enthusiastic young man, and will be a huge asset to our group.

Reece added “Once Gary offered me this opportunity I just had to take with both hands.

“I’m looking forward to been part of a successful team and can’t wait to get stuck in.”
