Oli Burton is back at Hunslet!
He is set to turn out against Cornwall in Sunday’s Betfred League 1 fixture, alongside twin brother Joe and with his dad Danny, who is one of the Parksiders’ assistant coaches, in the dugout.
It all points to a fantastic Fathers’ Day for Danny while the fans, who were very impressed during Oli’s loan spell from Batley Bulldogs last year, will also be looking forward to the match with keen anticipation.
The hooker, who played eleven games for Hunslet in 2022, scoring two tries, returned to the Bulldogs but is back at the South Leeds Stadium on, initially, a two-week deal, with an option to renew on a weekly basis; Batley, as the parent club, have the usual option to recall him.
Hunslet’s head coach Alan Kilshaw said: “I’m delighted to bring Oli back to the club and reunite him professionally with Joe and obviously his dad Danny, who has been a great addition to the coaching team this year.
“Oli played a number of games last season for us and was outstanding in a beaten team and a young pack that was ultimately dominated. We feel that with the pack we now have, and the damage our outside backs can do, Oli can take full advantage.”
He concluded: “We were in the market for a nine to complement Nathan Conroy and Danny Barcoe, as we have lost Jamie Greenwood and Harvey Whiteley, so it was important we improved our strength and depth in this area.”
