Following the turbulence of recent weeks, the Club are looking to the future with renewed confidence having successfully retained two exciting stars for the 2026 season.
The Club is thrilled to announce that Ethan O’Hanlon and Harrison Gilmore have committed their futures to the cause.
Director of Rugby Darren Higgins shared the news “2025 has been a tough ride for everyone involved with the Club. But our belief in the next generation has never wavered. Make no mistake, we are determined to build something special here, and Ethan and Harrison are going to be right at the heart of it.”
Head Coach Kyle Trout added “We’re not just retaining talent — we’re investing in leadership, passion, and potential. These young men represent the future of Hunslet.”
Kyle went on “Ethan continues to impress and works well alongside Harvey Hallas, who is a great influence on the young lads coming through. Ethan’s appetite for learning and improving is the type of culture we want to instil in the group.
We’ve used “Gilly” sparingly this season. It’s a big step up to play Championship week in week out and we are more than happy with his progress. He has enormous potential to go far in the game and we are really looking forward to seeing him develop over the next couple of years.”
Darren added “Recruitment across the game has been slow due to the uncertainty around structures. We are going about our business quietly and will inform supporters about retentions as they happen. Any new signings for 2026 will be announced after the season out of respect to other clubs.”
