The Parkside Suite welcomed back a host of legends to Sunday’s game to celebrate former coach Paul Daley’s achievements at the Club.
Unfortunately Paul was unable to attend due to health reasons but his wife Kath and nephew Andy, whose company the Rock-Oilfield Group sponsored the event, were in attendance.
Paul, who had 3 stints at the Club, which included 2 promotions, was famous (or infamous) for his half time team talks.
Although small in stature he would strike fear into the biggest forward if he thought they were not giving their all.
However, a “full house” was testament to the esteem he is still held in by those who played for him. Roy Sampson and Phil Gibson paid glowing tributes and many memories were shared by former teammates.
Andy is determined that once Paul is feeling a bit better he will get him along to a game. Best wishes from everyone at the Club Paul and thanks for the memories.

Paul the ” angry ant ” was my first english coach when i joined Hunslet for the 1984/85 season in First Division. I will be forever grateful to Paul and Kath for their hospitality, advice and guideance during what i consider , one of my most enjoyable seasons in rugby league. All the best from Newcastle, Australia. Cheers Mal Graham.
