Like any organisation things don’t always run smoothly at Hunslet. The ticket machine is down, the burgers have run out, we’re down on resources. As irritating as this is for supporters it can be even more frustrating for our match day team who have the task of overcoming the problems.
Without doubt, these people are the lifeblood of our Club. Whether it is working on a matchday or doing the countless tasks that nobody sees throughout the week they are “The Team Behind The Team” and what makes Hunslet tick.
At times it can be a labour of love, so we asked Corey Cairns, one of our regular volunteers, what the attraction is:
“I came to games with my Dad and Grandad and started volunteering for the Ball Crew when I was 10 years old. After a few seasons I got the chance to become Head of the Ball Crew which I loved. Last season I had the amazing opportunity to shadow Phil Robinson, the Operations Director, to gain an understanding of the all the tasks that take place on match days. I really enjoyed that.
Whilst at Hunslet it has boosted my confidence and given me an insight into what takes place behind the scenes. I really enjoy coming down to Hunslet, everyone is friendly, and it feels like family”.
Keep up the great work Corey. A big THANK YOU to you and all our amazing staff and volunteers for the work they do.
We are always on the look out for volunteers so if you would like to get involved please email lynn.robinson@hunsletrlfc.com for more information.
