Hunslet RLFC and their main sponsor 247 Blinds have acted quickly to provide financial assistance for the return of Featherstone Rovers in 2027.
Hunslet CEO Neil Hampshire explained “It’s been fantastic to hear that since the announcement from the RFL, several individuals have now gone on record to say they intend to do everything they can to ensure Fev are back in the Championship in 2027, including local councillors. I’ve also been contacted for information about the potential for a “supporter ownership” model and am only too happy to be providing assistance. I’m sure that if all of these parties can work together collectively, then that will allow them to build the strongest possible business case for the “Rovers Return”.
Hampshire continued “Fev not playing in 2026 is devastating for everyone in the game and our thoughts are with the employees, players, coaching staff and the loyal fans. So, to try and help further, we are now creating a specific “Rovers Return” season ticket for 2026 with 50% of the income being ring fenced to pass on to any successful, full or part,supporter ownership bid. If that doesn’t materialise, then we will commit to donating the funds to the Featherstone Rovers Foundation at the end of the season. We would absolutely love for Fev fans to come and watch Championship Rugby in 2026 here at Hunslet, whilst at the same time knowing they are generating funds for the Rovers Return.”
247 Blinds co-owner Jason Peterkin is equally supportive “We were deeply saddened to hear about Featherstone Rovers’ recent challenges. While our primary focus at 247 Blinds is supporting Hunslet financially, we believe it’s equally important to stand by the sport during these difficult times. Featherstone is a ‘proper’ rugby league club, and it would be a tragedy to see it lost. That’s why we’ve committed to doing our bit to help the club recover and, like the Club, will make a donation to a supporter ownership group or Foundation in due course.”
