Head Coach Kyle Trout has prepared his team for the visit of Keighley Cougars to the South Leeds Stadium today (Aug 9th 3pm).
The Parksiders are off the back of their first win at Dewsbury since 2004 and are confident of victory.
“We know we are good enough to beat anyone.” says Trout
“A lot of the time this Season we have been our own worst enemies, but last week for long periods we were good. It felt like a release, like we had pulled the plug on the frustration of recent weeks. It’s getting near the end of the Season and for some of these lads it may be the last time they pull on a Hunslet shirt. They should realise it’s a privilege to wear the Myrtle, White and Flame.”
With some fitness worries to Dan Abram and Harrison Gilmore Hunslet may have to shuffle the pack but Trout feels they should still have enough.
“We may have to go bigger this week. Keep our style of playing fast and open but strip back and not be too complicated. Of course you don’t want to change a winning team, but injuries force our hand, Luckily Harvey Hallas, Mo Agoro and Kevin Larroyer are available, and although Matty Laidlaw has gone back to Hull our other loanees are available.”
Hunslet won at Cougar Park earlier in the Season and of course there is the memory of that 2024 Play-off final.
“Keighley have got some threats, and obviously a lot of their players have played for us which makes in spicier. Their confidence may be low but an injured animal is always dangerous. Matty Beharrell plays better the more you challenge him and Josh Jordan-Roberts and Brad Clavering are experienced forwards. It is always about us though and for me Ethan O’Hanlon and Harrison Gilmore have really come on this year, and last week Mackenzie Turner was outstanding.”
