Everyone at the Club was deeply saddened to hear that former director Gordon Murray passed away at his home in Cape Town last Friday.
Gordon was 94 and there is no doubting that he lived life to the full. His energy and drive were instrumental in resurrecting the Phoenix from Flame in 1973.
Following the closure of Parkside Geoff Gunney and Ginger Burnell approached Gordon, who bought into their vision of creating a “New” Hunslet. Last year Gordon returned to South Leeds for the first ever Greyhound Stadium reunion. He was very humble of the role he played in saving the Club but Hunslet supporters are forever indebted to him.
Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
RIP Gordon forever in our debt on saving Hunslet
