As you know the club has been proud to support the work done by local toddler Skye Sutcliffe’s family in raising awareness of the bone marrow register and fundraising for the Delete Blood Cancer UK charity. The players’ registration was followed by a successful Swab Party in the Phoenix adding 46 new donors to the register.
A bucket collection was held at the Bradford game and our community partner Gibbs & Dandy kindly boosted the fundraising by buying Harry’s Grand Final shirt.
Darren Hoyland, Gibbs & Dandy’s Pudsey general manager said “As a company, we are delighted to get involved in our local communities. We are only too happy to support the Hawks in their charity work. The shirt will be raffled with the proceeds being split between Delete Blood Cancer UK and the Macmillan charities”.
The great news is that little Skye recently went into remission. She will be having chemotherapy treatment over the coming months but has already proven herself to be a tough cookie. We look forward to welcoming her and her family back to the Hawks before the end of the season.
