Gibbs & Dandy Pudsey has signed a three year sponsorship deal with the Hunslet Hawks RLFC, which will help fund the club’s work throughout the local community.

The sponsorship deal will make a significant contribution to the rugby club’s community programme, in particular helping to fund the work of mascot Harry the Hawk and the development team as they visit schools throughout south Leeds. So far, 52 schools have been visited by the team within the last 12 months alone, engaging over 2,000 school children in the sport and encouraging over 70 to sign up to their local club.

One of the first initiatives to be funded by the sponsorship is the production of a story book for children, ‘Harry’s Game’. The book provides a fun way to promote healthy eating and exercise through reading, and will be used at the club’s school camps, and later within schools.

Darren Hoyland, Gibbs and Dandy Pudsey branch manager, said “As a company, we have a policy of getting involved in our local communities and the Hunslet Hawks feels like a perfect fit. The club is run by the fans for the fans, and they do some tremendous work throughout our local community which we’re delighted to help support.”

Andy Hemingway, Hunslet Hawks commercial director, said “To bring on board a massive brand like the Pudsey company is a huge boost to the club, and adds to our already strong construction portfolio. The sponsorship money will enable us to extend our reach across the region and take on more activities that will have a real tangible benefit to local communities.”
