In today’s programme in 1978, it was reported that the club would revert back to traditional shaped posts. The “Tuning Fork” posts, seemingly, were universally disliked by the other clubs, as players complained they didn’t know where the try line was. At least one player touched down behind the dead ball line!

 Hunslet did try putting cross hatching in the in-goal area but this didn’t convince the nay-sayers.  The cost of changing back would be borne by the Rugby League as they had approved the new design before they were erected.

1995 saw Scott Limb register 5 tries against Highfield, creating a new tries in a game record for the re-formed club.

A couple of our representatives were on show today. In 1894 Owen Walsh was down in South Wales as Yorkshire played Glamorgan in Swansea, the White Rose winning 3-0.

Hector Crowther won his only Great Britain cap in 1930, up against the Australians at Rochdale. GB came away winners, also by 3-0.
