The 2010 season ended today with Hunslet sitting proudly at the top of the league and promoted to the Championship. Paul March had guided the team through the season only losing to Oldham and Rochdale Hornets. The 20 fixtures had yielded an impressive 828 points. Wayne McHugh had scored 28 tries and 39 goals, Richard Knight had 40 goals and David March 59 to go with his 12 tries.

In 1976, Hunslet opened their season and took full advantage of an out-of-sorts Hull in the Esso Yorkshire Cup at the Greyhound Stadium. Hull looked bright enough at the start of the game but could not score and Hunslet took the lead on 24 minutes when Bob Gaitley sent Allan Agar over. On 30 minutes George Standidge shook off three tacklers to break clear and sent Alan Griffiths in. Frank Davies converted. Davies kicked a penalty and Hull pulled a try back before half-time. A Hull try and a goal early in the second half suggested Hull had their act together but after an Allan Agar drop goal they fell apart again as on the hour Gaitley put George Kirkpatrick through for a converted try which settled matters.
In 1982 Hunslet played their first game as Leeds United’s tenants at Elland Road against Salford. It was not to be a good start though as they went down 15-35. Making his debut in the game was centre Peter Roe. He had signed from York having previously played for Keighley and Bradford Northern. Although coming to the end of his career he was still a classy player and scored 22 tries in 81 appearances. He had previously played for Yorkshire and Great Britain Under 24s.

The 1954 tourists had a game against Newcastle Coalfields today and Geoff Gunney was in the second row in a bad tempered game. The referee constantly cautioned the forwards as regular melees broke out. Newcastle scored two late tries to win 28-22.
The 1964/65 season kicked off at Doncaster today and the programme summarised changes to the Laws Of The Game which spread over three pages!
