Hunslet Hawks RLFC can today reveal that Grand Final Man of the Match Thomas Coyle and his brother James have left the club with immediate effect.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams said “James approached us a couple of weeks ago saying that he had an opportunity to move into a coaching position and that was an avenue he wanted to explore, he was under contract with us for 2015 but after speaking to him it was obvious he wanted to accept the offer on the table and we didn’t want to stand in his way as coaching opportunities in the game are difficult to come by.”
Williams also revealed that the same club had made an approach for Thomas who had also indicated that he would like to follow his brother James to pastures new.
Williams commented “Thomas was under contract for 2015; however he asked to be released so he could make the move with his brother and we’ve agreed a compensation package with the club concerned for his release. The timing is not ideal and we were initially against the idea of letting Thomas go but we didn’t want to have a player at the club who potentially wasn’t 100% committed in what will be a challenging year.”
Williams went on to add “We still have Danny Grimshaw & Danny Ansell under contract for 2015 and have agreed terms with a quality half back who we will be announcing at a later date and we are scouring the market to see who else is availble.”
Finally the club would like to thank Jonny Wainhouse for all his efforts as he steps down from his assistant coaching position after 2 years due to family reasons.
