Hunslet Coach Dean Muir has prepared his squad for the up coming fixture against Cornwall this Sunday (May 26th 1pm), keeping their feet on the ground after a tremendous victory at Keighley last time out.
Two weeks without a game has given players some much needed rest and recuperation, but having secured the Clubs best result this season The Parksiders are keen to get back out on the field.
“It might sound strange to say it, but we weren’t at our best at Keighley. We left some points on the field, and this group of players will get better. There is more to come.” said Muir “Although their effort was outstanding, and I was proud of the lads.”
“Cornwall present a different challenge. They beat Midlands and had a good go at Oldham. They aren’t like the Cornwall of past seasons, and we must make sure we are on it to prevent any upsets.”
“Ours is a young squad that can be emotional and at times inconsistent, but these are the challenges to overcome. Cornwall at home and then the trip to Workington is our focus before the Challenge Cup Final break.”
Hunslet will have new signing Matty Fletcher available following his release from Swinton. The 23-year-old backrower played for several seasons at North Wales Crusaders and was a key player in their run to last seasons League 1 play-off Final. Matty will be a strong addition to the pack.
Isaac Shaw is also available on Dual registration from Wakefield Trinity, whilst Spencer Darley returns to the fold after the birth of his child.
Keenan Dyer-Dixon is out after suffering a concussion injury whilst on loan at Stanningley, Lewis Wray, Ben Sheils and Brandan Wilkinson are all still out long term.
Hunslet have, in conjunction with Cornwall, brought the kick-off forward to 1pm so that supporters can enjoy the play-off final between Leeds United and Southampton in the clubs Phoenix Bar after the match. We would encourage all sports fans to get down to South Leeds Stadium fur this unique double header. Hospitality is available to season ticket holders for only £5 a head, with a £20 offer to non – season ticket holders.
Hunslet are also pleased to host representatives from Andy’s Man club and Mencap to the game in support of Mental Health Awareness Week. “The players know that support is available at the club if they have any worries, men should talk more, and Andy’s Mans club is brilliant for that.” said Coach Dean Muir.
