Hunslet RLFC are delighted to announce that club legend Jimmy Watson is back in the myrtle, white and flame for 2026 after signing a 12-month contract extension.

The 34-year-old, who was loaned out to Hunslet ARLFC at the start of the season, came back into the fold to play in the centre position and helped to strengthen the edges, with his experience and defence.

Jimmy, who made his 250th appearance for the club recently, went on to have a great end to the season, rolling back the years with his performances.

His experience will once again be invaluable both on and off the field as Kyle Trout looks to build a new team for the 2026 season.

Kyle Trout was delighted to have Jimmy back on board: “Jimmy’s passion for the club is second to none. He has a wealth of experience, and has a real standing among the group, he has a real presence around the place which carries a lot of weight.

“It was a great privilege to have seen the energy flood back to Jimmy over the last few months of the season. We look forward to having him continuing with that passion into 2026.”

Jimmy commented; “I am very excited to be going into my 13th year with the Club. It was a very easy decision to re-sign for this great club.

“I really enjoyed playing for Kyle and Knozza and I cannot thank them enough for keeping their faith in me.

“This is a club that has given me everything and me and my family hold this club close to our hearts. It is my second home.

“I am looking forward to having a big 2026 with a great bunch of lads. I have got more rugby years behind me than in front of me, so for me, it’s about enjoying every moment wearing the Hunslet shirt, making more memories and having a big year. So we shall again.”
