Head coach Alan Kilshaw has moved quickly, following the cancellation of last Sunday’s game against Halifax Panthers because of a frozen pitch, to arrange a further friendly match ahead of the 2023 Betfred League One campaign.
The Parksiders will now entertain Salford Red Devils Reserves on Friday 3 February. The game will kick off at 8.00pm, and admission will be £10 (£5 concessions and under 21s) and Under 16’s FREE.
Hunslet’s other two pre-season matches, meanwhile, are set to go ahead as scheduled. Batley Bulldogs will visit the South Leeds Stadium this Sunday (29 January, 3.00pm) and the Parksiders will host Leeds Rhinos in the eagerly awaited annual Harry Jepson OBE Memorial Trophy clash on Sunday 12 February, again at 3.00pm. Admission for these fixtures is also £10 (£5 concessions and under 21s) while the recently launched scheme, supported by local company Tricel Leeds, whereby under 16s are admitted free subject to an accompanying adult paying £5 for entry is also in place for all three games.
Kilshaw said: “We are very grateful to Salford for stepping in at short notice. We’ve recruited extensively during the winter and it’s important that we have three pre-season games in place to ensure that every member of our squad gets a decent run-out. Hopefully the match will also be of value to the Red Devils.”
