Hunslet RLFC are delighted to announce that club captain Billy Jowitt has signed a new 12-month contract to remain at the South Leeds Stadium for the 2027 season.
The influential full-back, who had a stop start season due to picking up some unfortunate injuries still made 20 appearances for the Parksiders during 2026, scoring eight tries and kicking 55 goals.
Billy’s running threat with his pace and strength will be key for Kyle Trout’s attacking style of rugby as we move into the new season.
Billy is looking forward to 2027 and is hoping for an injury free campaign “I am over the moon to be staying at Hunslet for another year. I have loved my time here from day one, I love the environment and the people at the club.
“2026 was a tough year with many upas and downs, struggling for bodies for big periods of times was tough but I think the progress at the club both on and off the field is clear to see.
“I’m looking forward to ripping in again in pre-season and making more progress in 2027 and aiming for the playoffs.
“For me personally, it’s been a frustrating year with injuries, I just want to be out on the field every second I can and I’m doing all I can to ensure I come back fitter and better than ever this year to take my game up an over level. I can’t wait to hit the ground running with the boys.”
Kyle Trout commented, “Billy is key to us, and is someone that is all action when he’s on the field, he has got a real passion for what he does, and he cares about the team and the club.
“He is a strong competitor who is always hungry to listen, improve and drive standards within the group.
“He had some poor luck with injuries last season, but with him fit and firing on all cylinders in 2027, I’m sure we will see Billy hit even greater heights than the standards he has set over the last two season at the club.”
