It was great to see so many ex-players supporting the Class of 25 at last weekend’s game at Lock Lane. Last season’s heroes Jack Render and Josh Jordan-Roberts were in attendance as was George Flanagan Jnr. The Legend himself, Steve Pryce, was there and continues to support the Club with the same passion and enthusiasm he had as a player.
Prycie’s old teammate, Craig Booth, was proudly watching his son Noah put in a fantastic performance. Likewise 70’s player and coach Drew Broatch, watching his Grandson Mackenzie Turner carry on the family tradition. and catching up with former teammate Paul Briers.
Keith Mitchell, one of the organisers of the new Players Association, has made it a personal mission to re-engage former players with the Club. Joining Keith were some of the greats from the Elland Road days – Paul Briers, Johnny Wolford and Geoff Wright catching up with former teammate Kenny Sykes.
Keith said “We had some fantastic times at Hunslet and it’s always nice to meet up. So far we have 40 players that have taken advantage of the Ex-Player Season Ticket Offer and have a reunion planned for the Bulls game where we hope to sign up a few more. I know from personal experience it’s not easy to step up a Division. That’s why it is so important that the team feel everyone is behind them, it really does make a difference. As ex-players we have a role to play in that”.
