In 2010, David March made his debut at home to Oldham after signing from York City Knights. Together with twin brother and coach Paul, David made a great contribution to the promotion winning season and also to the following season when the club retained it’s Championship status. He played with the club for 5 seasons, bowing out at the end of 2014, again with a match against Oldham, this time in the Grand Final at Headingley where he kicked 2 goals. 122 matches, 35 tries and 139 goals were David’s contribution to his five seasons.

The one point drop goal was introduced in 1974 and today in 1975 was the first time we only scored 1 point in a match. It was at Whitehaven and Allan Agar was the man responsible. I heard a story about a player criticized for dropping a goal in heavy defeat. His answer – “well, if we’d have all dropped one it would have been a closer game”, and I guess that would have been true for Hunslet today!
Hunslet were not the first, however, as Blackpool Borough lost 5-1 to Huyton earlier in the season. We did a repeat in 1979, though, going down 1-6 at Hull.
1925 was the first time Hunslet played a match against the current Castleford club. It was at home in the Challenge Cup and Hunslet ran out easy winners 25-0. There had been a Castleford club in the Union era through to the new century, but they eventually folded and left the Northern Union.
