Hunslet RLFC are delighted to announce the signing of former Super League forward Eddie Battye.

Eddie, 34 arrives from Sheffield Eagles where he made over 100 appearances across two successful spells.

Battye, initially came through the Eagles ranks in the early 2010s. He moved to the capital where he had a five-year stint with London Broncos during which he played over 100 times, including game time in Super League. He moved back north to Join Wakefield in 2021, where he made 75 appearances for Trinity across a three-year spell in Super League.

The exciting prop, who carries hard, and has great feet made his 300th career appearance during the 2025 Championship season, just highlighting the experience he will bring to a young Hunslet squad in 2026.

Head Coach Kyle Trout was delighted to bring in a player with such experience; “Eddie is a robust leader that will bring a wealth of experience to the group and a point of difference for our middle unit. He has great late feet and a real shift ability.

“We are excited to see the impact he will make both in the short and long term as he helps and guides the younger members of the squad, who will be able to tap into his knowledge of the game and his experience.”

Eddie commented: “I am really happy to have signed for Hunslet and I cant wait to get stuck into this new exciting challenge.

“I have been talking to Kyle for some time and I am really excited to start working with him. He is a young, hungry coach, with a lot of great ideas and he has big plans for the team going forward.

“My aim is to help the club move forward and to continue to build on the strong foundations that the club have begun to lay. I can’t wait to get started.”
