Another team has been added to those taking part in the forthcoming Community Club Summer Festival, which has been arranged by the Hunslet Foundation in conjunction with Luke Gale’s `Kicking for Grassroots’ initiative.
Siddal Under 9s are the 22nd side to pledge participation in the event, which will be hosted by Hunslet Warriors on Sunday 31 July.
Hunslet Foundation’s General Manager Mikey Nuttall said: “It was ironic, really, I was looking through our list of competing teams and at that very moment my phone buzzed, and it was a text from Siddal asking to be included. Not only was it welcome news but it’s helped with the format. And the feedback I’m getting from other teams, throughout the north, is that excitement is really building.”
Nuttall also gives big raps to Tyler Finister, who joined the Foundation as a development officer earlier this year, and to Lee Robinson, who was recently added to the increasingly proactive team. Mikey says: “Lee is typical of the volunteers we have at Hunslet, in fact if anything he’s taken it to another gear.
“Since he joined us in February, helping out with curtain raisers to Hunslet’s games at the South Leeds Stadium, he’s become more and more involved, despite working full time, having a young family and coaching Hunslet Warriors Under 11s and Under 7s. We talk most days and I don’t know how he finds the time; I can’t overstate the contribution he makes.”
