The latest issue of South of the River (the magazine based on Hunslet RLFC and amateur Rugby League in south Leeds), which is now available for purchase, contains much that will interest the wider Rugby League public as well as the Parksiders’ fans.
In addition to focusing on this Sunday’s Coral Challenge Cup tie with Coventry Bears, South of the River contains a review of Hunslet’s impressive three-match winning run in pre-season games, and includes entertaining features by regular columnists such as Pat Benatmane and Steve Boothroyd.
Sam Smith, the Hunslet star who played at hooker when Great Britain won the inaugural World Cup in 1954, is celebrated, and outgoing chairman Neil Hampshire reflects on the club’s decision to remain supporter-owned – and there’s a profile of his successor, Hall of Fame member Kenny Sykes.
Grassroots fans can also embrace the recent achievements of the area’s sides, while local fixtures in the 2020 National Conference League are listed.
South of the River costs just £3.00 and is available from the club shop at the South Leeds Stadium. It can also be purchased online for £4.00 (incl p&p) by clicking here
