Today we are launching a new Vice President appointment process. Following Jimmy Watson’s successful testimonial year, the Board has given thought as to how we could also look to reward off-field achievements by our fans and volunteers. In the past these appointments have been made exclusively by the Board, but we felt it only right to create an opportunity for HIST members to make nominations too. The process we are introducing is as follows:

  • Nominations can be made at any time by any HIST member.
  • Nominees must have been a member of HIST for at least 5 years.

Nominations should be:

  • “At arm’s length” e.g., members cannot nominate family relations.
  • By formal letter or email: info@hunsletrlfc.com
  • In private to the board secretary – Phil Clapham:
  • Marked “FAO Phil Clapham – Board Secretary – VP Nomination”

The letter / email should be no more than one side of A4, provide detail of the nominees’ contribution and be seconded / supported by another HIST member.

Categories are:

  • Outstanding service to the Club as a volunteer over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Outstanding service to the local Community on behalf of the Club over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Outstanding service to Rugby League in general, largely in the capacity as a representative of the Club, over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Outstanding promotion of the Club and its aims over a period of 10 years or more
  • The nomination must also be made without the knowledge of the nominee so that we can better manage expectations.
  • The 10-year qualification period brings the volunteer process in line with the player testimonial 10-year qualifying period

Decision Process:

  • The Board will consider nominations at their next monthly Board meeting.
  • The Board’s decision will be shared with the nominator in advance of any formal appointment of the nominee.
