Coming north from London Skolars in 2015,  centre Mufaro Mvududu made his debut today at Gloucestershire All Golds in a 4th round Challenge Cup tie which Hunslet won 28-10. He’d started his professional career with Featherstone Rovers and was with Hunslet for 4 seasons making 81 appearances and scoring 37 tries. Debuting alongside him were Mo Agoro (who scored a hat-trick), Ryan Backhouse, Mark Castle and Marcus Elliott.

The game with Dewsbury at Parkside in 1913 was abandoned after 60 minutes. Dewsbury were winning 13-0 and the result stood. Coincidently, the fixture at Crown Flatt on earlier in the season had also been abandoned after an hour. Again, the result was to stand but Hunslet appealed for a replay as they were drawing 5-5 and their players were happy to continue as they felt they had a good chance of winning. The appeal failed.

In 1930, Yorkshire travelled to Rochdale for a County Championship match. Jack Walkington was at full-back and Hector Crowther in the second-row in the 3-18 defeat.

Other cup ties today were in 1890, a 4th round Yorkshire Cup match at home to Halifax. The scores were tied 2 goals and 1 try each with Hunslet having 4 minors and Halifax 2. This evidently equated to 6 major points for Hunslet and 5 for Halifax, making Hunslet the winners and progressing to their first semi-final.

In the 1902 Challenge Cup it was a trip to the banks of the River Lune to take on Lancaster. It was 0-0 approaching half time when one reporter described Wilson, the Lancaster full-back, of “chicken-heartedness” in allowing Walter Goldthorpe to score. Hunslet came through 7-2.

A trip over the river in 1947 to meet Leeds in the 2nd round. With a 51-19 advantage in scrum possession, Leeds were the better side and were reported to have deserved more than their 5-0 victory.
