Hunslet RLFC are delighted to have secured the signature of 25-year-old Australian half-back, Lachlan Hanneghan for the 2025 Championship Season.

Hanneghan, who hails from New South Wales, played for Whitehaven in the Championship last season, making 29 appearances, scoring 10 tries and kicking 18 goals.

Previously back in Australia, he was at Wyong Roos in the Newcastle competition, the same competition that produced Wakefield Trinity star Lachlan Walmsley.

Although the season ended in disappointment for the Cumbrians, Hanneghan was a stand our performer in the Haven team and was well liked and highly rated by the Recreation Ground faithful, who were sad to see him go.

Head Coach Dean Muir was excited to have signed such a talented player. “Lachlan is a great signing for us, we can’t wait to see him in the Myrtle, White and Flame.

“He has a smart kicking game and is a real running threat, he has all the characteristics to help us establish ourselves as a Championship club.”

Lachy commented “I am really grateful to be given an opportunity to play for such an historic Club. These are very exciting times for Hunslet, and I want to be a part of it.

“I can’t wait to get this next chapter started, meet everyone involved at the Club and hit the ground running.”

More Championship experience added to the ranks is what Hunslet need in what’s going to be an exciting but tough season. Lachlan Hanneghan is another talent added to what is now becoming the most exciting Hunslet squad assembled in years.
