Head coach Alan Kilshaw has confirmed his 21-man squad for the south Leeds outfit’s Betfred League 1 fixture at North Wales Crusaders on Sunday (25 June, 2.30pm).
`Killer’ is without loan winger Johnny Campbell, who is sidelined for a further week with the deadleg that led to him being a late withdrawal from last Sunday’s home victory over Cornwall.
Four players, meanwhile, are scheduled to turn out for Castleford Reserves tomorrow, including second row Nathan Newbound, who is recovering from a back injury. The others are Danny Barcoe, Brad Wheeler and Liam Carr.
The Parksiders’ boss said: “There will be some changes to last week’s side. We are trying to rotate and keep people fresh, and also make sure we have players game conditioned.
“Several are playing Super League Reserves Rugby League this week to get some game time, which shows the depth we have in the squad at the moment and illustrates the healthy competition throughout the group.”
Hunslet go into the fixture on the back of a defeat at Oldham and an at-times patchy performance against Cornwall. Kilshaw added: “I am looking for a better performance than in our previous couple of games. We have the commitment and the hard work in place; it’s the attention to detail and the execution of plays, built from our discipline with and without the ball, that we need to attend to.
“Crusaders have hit some form; they had a tough start and a couple of close losses but I always expected them to start picking up some wins. We present a tougher challenge than the sides they have beaten in their previous four games and the match provide a good indication of where both teams are at.”
Killer concluded: “We are committed and focussed to the type of game we want to play and are aiming to deliver that on Sunday.”
The match is being played at Chester RUFC, Hare Lane, Littleton, Chester CH3 7DB, and Hunslet will select from Jimmy Watson, Jack Render, Adam Ryder, Joe Burton, Nathan Conroy, Harvey Hallas, Sam Hallas, Steve Crossley, Josh Jordan-Roberts, Aaron York, Michael Knowles, Jordan Syme, Lewis Wray, Morgan Punchard, Alfie Goddard, Spencer Darley, Matty Beharrell, Marcus Green, Myles Lawford, Oli Burton, Dan McGrath.
