Hunslet have signed former Midlands outside back Liam Welham for the 2025 season, ten years after he last played for The Parksiders in the Championship.

The 35 year old former Featherstone and Doncaster man has played at Coventry/Midlands for the last 5 seasons, making 72 appearances and scoring 32 tries and has been a constant thorn in Hunslet’s side every time the teams have met.

“Liam’s experience will be vital for us this year.” says Head Coach Dean Muir “He is someone who every time we have played against him has caused us problems with and without the Football. He is a smart player and can play multiple positions with ease.”

Liam commented “Hunslet have always been a team on my radar ever since my previous involvement with the club. The ethos and the staff, alongside their loyal fan base was and still is the icing on the cake for this club.

“When I was asked if I would once again like to be involved with the club by Dean, the answer was easy. Yes! Dean still sees what I can offer within the team, leadership, experience and some old school work ethic which I pride myself on.

“One thing I will promise both my team mates and the club is that when I’m in your getting 110% from me. I’m looking forward to getting started and helping this club reach the heights /status it deserves.”

Welham’s direct running and strength was popular with Hunslet fans in his last stint with the Parksiders, scoring 14 tries in 34 appearances. Fans will be hoping to see that again in the 2025 Championship Season.
