Head coach Alan Kilshaw has named Italian international Jake Maizen in his 21-man squad for Sunday’s huge Betfred League 1 home fixture with promotion rivals Doncaster.
Maizen joined the Parksiders earlier this week on loan from Halifax Panthers and has already made a big impression with his pro-active approach in training.
Hunslet, meanwhile, posted an impressive victory at North Wales Crusaders and Kilshaw said: “We got through last week with no knocks and all the lads got through the Cas game unscathed. It’s a credit to our training and strength and conditioning work that we have had little disruption on the injury front this season, the second halves of our matches are illustrating our fitness levels, and we have a full squad of players who all want to contribute. That makes the coaches’ jobs in picking a 17 each week hard, but it’s a welcome headache.
He continued: “We have rotated some of the lads over the last few weeks and we will continue to do that to keep everyone match-sharp and fresh. There’s a good buzz around the place that comes from a good win last weekend and the excitement of what is in front of us this weekend.”
`Killer’ concluded: “The more important the game, the more simple our plan. We know how Doncaster win games, and we know how we like to win games, it’s two points to play for and it’s not a play-off game or a final, so we can be relaxed on the outcome. It might not be the last time these two teams play each other this season; we have focused on ourselves and know a good performance won’t be enough. We need to be great, and we need to be great for 80 minutes. And I do know we have a group who are prepared to go toe to toe with Doncaster this Sunday.”
