Amateur Rugby League enthusiasts in South of the River territory will be spoilt for choice this summer.
The National Conference League has shelved its usual divisional structure, as the country hopefully emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, and has
instead opted for seven regional leagues of seven teams.
Five (East Leeds, Hunslet Club Parkside, Hunslet Warriors, Oulton Raiders and Stanningley) of South of the River’s six sides have been placed in League D, alongside Milford and Siddal.
The other team – Drighlington – is in League F, together with Bradford Dudley Hill, Featherstone Lions, Lock Lane, Thornhill Trojans, Underbank Rangers and West Bowling.
Sides will meet every other team in the same league home and away, and will also play a couple of Cross-League games.
League tables will be settled on a percentage basis, and games that are not played will be treated as cancelled rather than postponed.
Trophies will be presented to the sides closing on top of their respective leagues, and the regular campaign will be followed by play-offs. First round losers will contest the Conference Shield; the 33 sides not involved at all in the Championship play-offs will be invited to take part in Trophy and Plate knock-out events. The season will climax in a four-game Grand Finals day on a date and at a venue to be confirmed.
