Hunslet have signed flying winger Mackenzie Turner for the 2025 Championship Season.
The 21 year old former Leeds Academy winger was on loan from Oldham at the back end of last season and played a massive part in Hunslet’s Play-off and promotion success contributing 9 Tries in 13 Appearances, but that’s not all Mackenzie has to his game.
“We saw Mackenzie’s ability to find the try line in the Play-offs.” said Head Coach Dean Muir. “But it was his ability to carry out and gain yardage that also impressed.
“He is a young man who gets better every week, he is fast, powerful and a quick learner. He fits in really well with this group and is a great person.”
Turner’s try in the Promotion Play-off at Swinton turned the tide of the game, and the times he has got in the clear, he has shown genuine pace that Hunslet fans will relish in the Championship, but Mackenzie, is also solid in defence as fans found out in Hunslet’s promotion push.
Mackenzie added “I’m really happy to join Hunslet. I loved my time whilst I was on loan here last season, and to be here next season is something I’m really looking forward to.
“I am looking forward to competing in the Championship. We have a great set of lads and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season with them.”
“The Hunslet fans in the play-off games were amazing and I’m excited to experience that again. I’m looking forward to hearing them get behind us next season in the Championship.”
The Grandson of former Hunslet Coach Drew Broach, Mackenzie is keeping the family tradition alive in the Myrtle, White and Flame.
Fantastic news. Well done everyone. #ahaw #swsa
Drew was a legend at the ‘dog track’ – hope his grandson keeps up the family tradition. Who can forget George Clarke’s interception try against Widnes in the floodlit tournament?
