I wanted to take a moment to speak openly with you about where the game, and our Club, currently stands.
The Championship is at a critical point. A number of clubs are experiencing well-publicised financial difficulties, and it’s widely accepted that others may follow. These are challenging times for the sport as a whole, and we would be doing you a disservice if we pretended otherwise.
Here at Hunslet, we are stable and viable for the immediate future. However, we must also recognise that we are currently reliant on the incredible support of two main benefactors. While we are immensely grateful for that backing, long-term sustainability requires a broader base of support.
That’s where you come in.
If you’re someone who supports Hunslet but hasn’t been down to a game in a while, now is the time to return. Your presence matters, not just in numbers, but in the energy and identity of our Club.
If you’re in a position to go a little further, there are simple but meaningful ways to help. Whether it’s taking part in the weekly draw, buying a drink or a burger on matchday, or upgrading to King or Watson membership, every contribution helps strengthen the Club’s future.
As previously communicated we are always open to discussions with potential investors in the Club, whether that is individuals or consortiums. The long term future of the Club remains our number 1 priority.
There is much reason for optimism. The introduction of a salary cap will bring greater economic sense, stability and competitiveness to the game, and ongoing discussions around potential investment offer hope for growth and improvement across the sport.
We firmly believe we have a great product. We are a Club with proud history, passionate people, and a strong place in the community. But if we want to keep it, we must back it.
These are important moments, but they are not without opportunity. With your support, we can build something more sustainable and ensure Hunslet continues to move forward.
Thank you, as always, for your loyalty and belief.
Good news on a salary cap, it will level up the playing field.
I’ve never doubted our boards decision, but watching is difficult. Especially when we can’t field a full side without loan players.
In our board I trust.
John
I hear talk of Championship clubs being “affiliated” (feeder clubs) to Super League clubs thereby losing their identity and just becoming de facto reserve teams to the SL clubs.
Bramleys venture down this route didn’t end well.
Not everything the NRL do needs to be imported to here.
Where is the engagement with squads changing week after week?
Sadly this year with retirements etc we have experience of this.
As a Johnny come lately I should probably keep quiet but I personally feel that Hunslets proud history should be protected.
Having supported Hunslet for over 50 years I am the last one to want to lose ‘our’ clubs identity. However the majority of championship teams will never be allowed into super league with or without the NRL. We should look to turn the Championship into an exciting and viable ‘stand alone’ competition with whatever scraps of funding we get from the NRL. If it involves tie ups with super league teams the fact that clubs like Hunslet, Swinton, Keighley etc
can’t get promoted could be a
‘unintended’ protection against losing their cherished identities?
