His family has stated: “We would like to honour Ben by wearing rugby shirts or, if a rugby shirt is not possible, Ben loved to get suited and booted, so please smart wear. We also request family flowers only. After the service we would like everyone to join us in celebrating his life at the Spotland Reform Club.

“We would like to thank everyone for the support, love and the donations, it really is appreciated.”

The funeral of Trevor Leathley, who was appointed as Hunslet’s `A’ team coach when Peter Jarvis and David Ward were in charge of the first team in the 1980s, will be held at Dewsbury Moor Crematorium on Friday 28 July (12.30pm). Mourners are invited to celebrate his life afterwards at Shaw Cross Sharks’ clubhouse on Leeds Road, Dewsbury.
