Hunslet Hawks have been confirmed as an associate member of the All-Party Parliamentary Rugby League group.

Joining as an Associate Member, the club may attend the Group’s monthly open meetings in the palace of Westminster, as well as its Annual Dinner on the House of Lords’ Terrace.

“I have been patron of the Hawks for over three years, and am thrilled that the club has joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group,” said club patron and Labour MP for Leeds Central, Hilary Benn.

“The club has done excellent work in the South Leeds community in recent years, and I am sure that they will find their Associate Membership useful as they look to build on this.”

The Group’s chairman, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland (Liberal Democrat), welcomed Hunslet to the group.

“I’m delighted that Hunslet Hawks have decided to join the Parliamentary Rugby League Group,” he said.

“The group continues to work hard to support the sport, and welcomes clubs from all levels. I look forward to meeting representatives from the club.”

Hawks chairman, Neil Hampshire, added: “It is an honour to have joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group as an Associate Member.

“The group continues to play an important role in supporting the game in the UK, and we are looking forward to working with such a key organisation.”
