Hunslet have launched a new partnership with Leeds Beckett University that will offer work experience opportunities to students and provide the Club with valuable marketing expertise.

The partnership with the university’s Carnegie School of Sport will give students the chance to further their knowledge and insight, while offering new innovative ideas and expertise to Hunslet.

Kacy Mackreth, Senior Lecturer in Sport Marketing at the Carnegie School of Sport, has driven the arrangement; she has been appointed to Hunslet’s board, where she will provide support and expertise to the Parksiders.

She said: “Hunslet RLFC has a rich history and heritage; together with our students and the wider university we can strengthen our collective communities”.

Hunslet’s Chairman Kenny Sykes said: “Bringing someone of Kacy’s experience on to the board is a real coup for us and bridges a skills gap that needed to be addressed.

Having a fresh pair of eyes and a willingness to challenge around the table will also be hugely beneficial”.

The partnership has been launched at a critical time for the club. Many sports have been facing challenging times including Rugby League clubs in the lower divisions, and the support from Leeds Beckett will prove invaluable to Hunslet.

One fundamental area that will benefit from the partnership is Hunslet RLFC’s marketing strategy. As part of their experience, students will be contributing ideas towards its development as the club looks towards the 2021 season.

The partnership promises exciting times for both the club and Leeds Beckett University.
