Hunslet RLFC have suffered another blow shortly after news that Richie Moore had been forced into early retirement due to ill health, club captain Duane Straugheir fractured 2 metacarpals during Sunday’s win over Coventry Bears, both have been manipulated to realign the fractures however early indications from medical advice is that he’s facing 12 weeks on the sidelines.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said “Losing Straff is a huge blow he’s not only Club Captain but is our onfield leader and our right edge has really been strong for us in recent weeks.

“He’s going to leave big shoes to fill but his loss will allow someone else an opportunity to stake their claim.

“In his absence Adam Robinson will take over as Captain, with Jimmy Watson & Mike Emmett stepping up as joint vice captains.
