Hunslet Coach Dean Muir has named his side for the AB Sundecks 1895 cup v Batley Bulldogs at the South Leeds Stadium this Sunday (February 18th).

Battered and bruised after four straight games against tough opposition the Parksiders have 6 players unavailable and are awaiting the fitness of 4 more.

Muir was pleased with aspects of last Sundays game v Keighley “We were better in certain areas, but on a couple of occasions Keighley’s experience told as they influenced the game better than us” and felt it was the best performance of 2024 so far.

Aaron Levy misses out with Concussion, whilst on-loan signing Will Adams (who looked impressive) suffered a dislocated shoulder and will now return to Bradford Bulls for treatment hoping to be back in time for the league season opener at Newcastle.

Luke Mearns, a young forward from Wakefield comes into the squad.

Having beaten Featherstone Rovers 15-14 Batley will look for a big score to top the table.

“Batley will be a different test to Featherstone” said Muir “I have known Mark Moxon (Batley’s Coach) for a while and expect Batley to be very direct, aggressive, physical and detailed in their match prep, they are a quality side”.

Although Hunslet go into this game as underdogs it’s a chance to continue the good form of last week as this new squad starts to take shape. Muir knows that after this game it’s 4 weeks until the all-important league opener at Newcastle Thunder where the Parksiders will hope to have injured bodies back.
