Hunslet players have undergone routine cardiac screenings as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign.

Cardiac screenings used to be optional for clubs but following the tragic death of Keighley’s Danny Jones in 2015 the importance of the screenings has seen them become mandatory. Something welcomed by Hunslet’s Head Coach, and former Keighley Assistant Coach, Dean Muir.

“Danny’s passing shook everybody. It’s important we as a game do everything possible to prevent another tragic incident like Danny’s. Player welfare has always to come first. To get this done before the start of the season is really important, and it gives us all peace of mind.”

The Club would like to thank Operations Director Phil Robinson’s employer Jewson Civils Frazer for funding the screening. Phil commented “It’s a bit different to the usual sponsorship but health and safety in the workplace is something that Jewson Civil Frazer values so we are pleased we can play our part by supporting this initiative.”
