Visitors to Hunslet Rugby League club have often been confused, in recent years, by the fact that the south Leeds outfit has two Phil Hodgsons on board.

One is the Parksiders’ Finance Director – the other is the Press Officer.

Hunslet now plan to turn such confusion to on-field advantage, starting with Sunday’s home Betfred League One game with Oldham, which kicks off at 3.00pm.

The Rugby Football League has been asked, this morning, to grant approval for each member of the Parksiders’ squad to be renamed Phil Hodgson (deed poll applications for each player will, hopefully, be completed by noon today) while head coach Alan Kilshaw is also set to ditch his own moniker in a bid to bamboozle opponents when set moves are called.

Phil Hodgson’s 21-man Hunslet squad against Oldham is, therefore: Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson. Without giving any secrets away to Oldham it is expected that Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Phil Hodgson and Phil Hodgson will fail to make it into the final 17.

The main stand at the South Leeds Stadium will be unveiled as the Geoff Gunney Stand at Sunday’s fixture. It is understood as of this morning, Friday 1 April, that plans are not in place to call it the Phil Hodgson Stand.
